The gallery where Cheyenne displayed and sold her photos was not large, but that gave it charm.“I really like way you changed your hair,” Cheyenne said as they walked toward the door.
Jonas smiled shyly, “I saw it on TV and thought I’d give it a try, the other seemed to fit the old me, not the new me.”
“I agree,” she said with a smile.
Suddenly, a man came running out of the gallery, knocking Cheyenne to the ground.
Jonas, reached for her, but was too late to catch her before she went down. He knelt beside her. “Cheyenne! Are you all right?”
Sitting up with Jonas’ help she cried,“My camera, where’s my camera?”He looked around, “I don’t see it, where were you carrying it?”
“The strap was over my shoulder, I felt him tug at it as I fell,” she said as she stood. "Oddly, he left my purse, though."
"Why wouldn't he have grabbed that, too?"
"Beats the hell out of me."
When he knew she was steady on her feet, he turned away and started looking around. He still couldn’t find it, and turned to Cheyenne who was walking around holding her arm, was she hurt? “Why would anyone take your camera?” he asked.
“I don’t know. I don’t think my photos are that expensive,” she tried to smile, but couldn’t. “I really liked that camera, I’ve had it for a few years, I don’t think they make that model anymore.”
“Did you lose any of your pictures?”
“No, I uploaded the card this morning.” She must have seen his puzzled look because she smiled. “Onto my flash drive. I’ll show you when we get home. Also, I pulled the card, I never leave pictures in my camera. You never know what will happen.” She frowned, “Obviously.”
“Damn,” she mumbled under her breath as they walked toward the gallery. “Now, I’m going to have to find another camera.”He still couldn’t understand why anyone would take her camera. “Was it expensive?”
“Well, yeah, it was a professional digital camera, that model was around $5,000.00.” She looked back toward the street where the guy had disappeared. “I suppose the guy could hock it.”
Five thousand dollars? And he’d thought dinner last night was outrageously expensive. He was going to have to get caught up on exactly what a dollar would buy these days.
“He didn’t seem to be poorly dressed, at least not in my opinion. Granted, I’m not sure what would constitute poorly dressed.”“No, I didn’t see much of him before he hit me, but, no from what I saw, he wasn’t dressed like the poor, and he certainly didn’t smell poor.”
He smiled wide as they approached the door and a man came out of the building, “That I understand.”
“Cheyenne, are you all right, I saw that guy plow right into you.” The man gave Cheyenne a quick hug.“I’m fine,” she said.
They entered the gallery and Jonas reached out and touched her arm; the scrape was starting to bleed. “You should find someplace to clean this.”She looked down staring at the scrape as though noticing it for the first time. “Right. Mark, I guess I should go to the bathroom, I’ll be right back, both of you.”
She smiled heading in the direction of a door with a sign with a man and woman in white. Jonas was amazed. Pictures, how wonderful for those who can’t read. Although by now, shouldn’t everyone be able to read?
The man Cheyenne had left him with stuck out his hand and said, “Mark Parkinson, the owner of the gallery and proud displayer of Cheyenne’s work.”Jonas took the man’s hand and shook it, “Jonas Salinger. I’m a college friend staying with Cheyenne.” He felt strange saying that, but that’s what they’d decided on that morning. Cheyenne felt they needed to explain his presence.
“Ah, I wondered what it would take to bring her out of that house.”

Whoa! Not the camera, anything but the camera! If that had been me, I would have chased him down ala White Chicks and tackled the bugger, LOL. 5,000 dollars?! Oh, yes, definitely.
I am interested to see WHY her camera was taken. I'm wondering if there isn't something bigger going on that we haven't been privy to yet...
Pose hacks! You know you've been using them too long when you can identify the ones someone uses, LOL. I miss the days of blissful ignorance when talking animations were enough, haha.
Hehehe, Mao, my husband said the same thing about chasing the guy down. Except he thought it should be Jonas coming to the rescue. I absolutely hate to admit it, but the suspense writer in me didn't even think of that. So stupid, it would have made sense. I was so fixed on the fact the camera needed to be stolen, I wasn't thinking straight.
Yeah, when I did research on professional digital cameras I almost choked at the price. $5,000!
Yup, there's more going on than anybody knows at the moment. :)
I have the same problem with pose hacks, I see them at other stories and think, yup, I know that pose. :D Vampire's Tale was done with I think only one or two pose hacks. Ah, those were the days. But then, I had to take hundreds of pictures just to find the right one. Guess it works itself out in the long run. :)
I wonder why her camera was taken? Very very mysterious. You'd think he would have gone for the purse! Poor thing. I'd be super mad too if that happened to me.
That gallery looks great too, I can never build galleries.
Ah pose hacks. Those were the days. I don't use them anymore, too scared my game will explode. I am actually having fun seeing the animations just play out without my help. Then again, I've gone from being a huge pose hack user to a "au natural" gamer.
jarasing, I don't know at $5,000, it's possible it would be worth more than anything in her purse. :D
I love the gallery, I'm going to have to post better pictures at Fate's Ribbon because it's one of my husband's creations, and I'm rather proud of it. He's really good in the building area, unfortunately, he doesn't do it very often.
I don't like trying to remember where all the poses are, but I hate sitting around with slow motion on waiting for a Sim to do something I want to take a picture of, so it's got its good side and bad. When I get Sims 3, I'll see what I can do "au natural" again. :D
I am in love with the gallery...every single thing about it, the color, the lighting, spare clean look...sigh...
All I can come up with about the theft of the camera is something lame about what cameras do. Nail a moment in time.
Beautiful shots, and whether the pose hacks were involved or just sitting there on the side watching, I couldn't tell. I don't want to know. I just watch and enjoy. Pose hacks are nice to me so I'm nice to them LOL!
Thank you S.B., I'm passing your comments about the gallery on to my husband. I wish he'd build me more houses and businesses, but... :( He does have a wonderful way with the architecture.
Well if that's all you can come up with for a camera, then my answer is: excellent choice. :D
I'm glad you're enjoying the story. There's still a bit to sort out and questions to answer.
I just spent the better part of the afternoon catching up on this tale and I just love it! I apologize for not commenting on each one but I was too captivated to stop!
I suspect there is a definite link between the camera and her landing in the garden at Jonas' feet. I only hope Jonas can save her.
Hey Gayl, Welcome and thank you so much! Wow, I'm really glad you like it. It's fun to write and I've always loved the concept of time travel.
Jonas has already altered the present somewhat just by his being here. :D
You have me very intrigued about the theft of the camera! I wonder what it means and how it will fit in with the rest of the story.
Hey Saoz, as with all romantic suspense, all will be answered, eventually. :) Now I sound like a swami.
"Jonas has already altered the present somewhat just by his being here."
I was beginning to wonder about that! The longer he stays, I'm sure he is affecting the balance of things. Although it sounds as if no one would miss him back where he's from!
Oh, the camera! Now that IS interesting! Someone knows something we don't, I think! :D
Emily, Mark says it, she left her house, so Jonas has made one small change in the present. :D
They're both loners, I did that purposely. The only connection Cheyenne has, remember is her father, which is actually less of a connection than Jonas' family.
Camera comments, see above. LOL!!
